2/23: Lego concentration camp
![]() The AP caption: This depiction of a concentration camp made from a Lego set, by artist Zbigniew Libera, is among the works in the upcoming exhibit at the Jewish Museum in New York, "Mirroring Evil: Nazi Imagery/Recent Art." The display, scheduled to open March 17, 2002, is intended by curator Norman Kleeblatt to show new ways that contemporary artists are challenging viewers to think about the Holocaust. The American Gathering of Jewish Holocaust Survivors, which consists of about 70 representatives from Holocaust survivor groups around the country, unanimously passed a resolution Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, calling for The Jewish Museum to cancel the exhibit. |

Since 9/11 I've been pretty interested in unpopular opinions about the political relationship between the US, Israel and the Arab world.
Thanks for the interesting article, X. |

Cheater!
Shoot, if you guys are gonna do the politics, then I'm gonna do the Legos ..
That's not a legal Lego model! You're not allowed to cut and glue Legos, you must abide by the holes and studs. For example, the roofs (all of them, it looks like) are base plates that have been cut up. And though the fence posts are legit, the only way they can stand like that is with glue. Painting the minifigs is tolerated, especially when you have a specific requirement. Cool use of skeletons, though it makes the noose seem redundant. -B |

It's my guess that the skeletons represent the skin and bones effect that the malnourished prisoners presented.

That's pretty lame. It's what, one guard tower, a fence, a bunk house? Hell, that barely qualifies as a jail, let alone a full blow prison / concentration camp.
I suppose I'm supposed to read some deep meaning into this image, but it just doesn't do it for me. Quzah. |
