Problems with VS Mon error

I am having a problem when I am on the net.
Sometimes, not always, I get an error message that says:
"VS Mon has caused an error" and it locks up my modem.

Yeah I know, laugh at the dial up freak, but have you tried getting DSL, or Cable modems in the backwoods of Kentucky?
Your lucky my phone has buttons.

Anyways, some background for the techs, I run a P.O.S. Compaq 1.0 gig, supporting dual monitors.

If you need more info just ask.

When I get this error message, it says that if I continue having problems restart my computer. Upon either exiting the message or hitting okay, my computer automatically reboots. This is not really a problem because I find that I need to reboot again in order to regain communication with the Net.

This has only recently been happening and I have been running the dual monitors for a long time.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps this might help.

Thank you, it seems that ZoneAlarm was doing the damage.
and I cannot fault your computer knowledge, just my own.

I should have thought of a google search. now if I could just figure out where i placed my brain.

Alright, I want someone to note this in the book of history. Sycamore was actually able to help someone with their computer...even if it was just a Google search.

It takes a pretty obscure tech problem for it *not* to be helped by a Google search. Any error message that has ever ocurred on the planet has appeared in a FAQ or a support forum somewhere. A couple of intelligently structured Google searches can be wirth a roomfull of experts sometimes.
