Yeah, where is that video of you and Dana on that ferris wheel or whatever it was? We can hear her voice then, right?
Also how is her accent different from yours? I know how a brooklyn accent and a bronx accent are different, but what about yours?

Here 'tis.
Can you really not tell the difference between us? It's really obvious to an English person - vowels are pronounced differently.

I didn't mean to sound snotty - I know exactly what you mean re hearing Dwellars' voices.
I'm just intrigued that the difference isn't apparent. It might be that I've heard Dana's voice for longer periods than you, or simply the difference in accents. I'm not sure I could fathom approx 250 mile changes in American accents after all.

I can tell South, Cockney, Yorkshire, Scots. I can still speak Yorkshire if I really concentrate.
I can't tell Welsh but I heard some Welshmen the other day and it sounded distinct. In the Americas I can distinguish Bostonian, New Englander, New York, Fluffia, "Appalachia", general Southern, Texan, Midwestern, Minneapolan, Canadian, that's all I can think of right now. Lesser, uh, worldly educated Americans can't tell the difference between Aussie and Brit. |

He's speaking English I promise.
I adore a Welsh accent. One of the reasons I adore Torchwood - Russell T Davies is a genuis for setting it i Cardiff. I also love the Welsh language - in case you don't know there is a separate language. Completely unguessable to the non-Welsh in terms of words and pronunciation. PS - NOT British teeth! I know no-one with missing teeth. False teeth, yes. Missing, no.

I totally love that you hear Emma Thompson's voice when you read my posts lol.
Actually, I think her voice is a little like mine, but with a different accent. Similar tone and pitch (except when I am hyped on lager and excitement ala the Greenwich vid, at which point my voice is a little higher in pitch :P) One reason a non-Brit might not spot the difference between SG and me accentwise, is because I don't have a particularly strong accent. SG's accent is close to received pronunciation, because that part of the country is where that tone was set. The accent for my part of the world is quite different to RP, but my accent veers closer towards it, because my regional accent is not strong. Or rather, not strong most of the time. I drift in and out depending on my mood and the company I keep. If you compared a broader northern accent (i.e pretty much any of my old Bolton friends) with SG's the difference would be much more obvious. |

Speaking Welsh
Not so much a language more of a speech impediment ![]() I used to hate it when I worked in bars when they decended on Edinburgh during the rugby 6 nations a whole week of dealing with drunk Welshmen, would make you weep |
