Gulf coast oil spill

I don't quite understand that picture. Is it supposed to show that the oil spill is as harmless as a single beer can? Tell that to all those fishermen who have lost their livelihood, and all those oiled animals and all the destroyed wetlands.

And all those people in the picture! Looks like the beginning of the end to me. If each of those people threw a beer can onto the playing field, there quickly would be nothing left.
