To be honest, if mum hadn't painted her house with doveshite skirting boards I'd have described that colour as pale grey or off-white.

And they're not even consistent colours. Different paint makers do them differently. Some 'dove grey' paints are just plain old, standard grey to my eyes. Others look almost white. Same with the 'dove white'.

Generally speaking you see the difference more once it's been laid on.
