The Picatinny rail is the ugliest thing. I don't care what kind of gun it's on, I hate 'em. Snaggy, ugly, and uncomfortable to the hand.

Hmm... I use the rail to mount thermal vision without dismounting main optics. Very comfortable. Also lower picatinny is for tripod mount. Yes, it's ugly. But useful.
And when you beat somebody with the barrel additional wounds are guaranteed

Oh, they have their uses, I know. All kinds of Barbie-gun accessories can be clamped on there. I, personally, wouldn't attach a people-beater to my barrel, but, hey, maybe ya need to shoot around corners sometimes...

Returning to quadrail, in my defence: it was factory installed and I had no other option in this caliber. AR15 was without quad, but 223 is useless for me.
