They are used in a Vermont general store on a regular basis. These are at least 50 years old.

They've been polished by use and the smaller one is much older than the bigger one and has been somewhat further shaped by use.

From the wear pattern on the lower 'tool' (for lack of a better word) they're used to get something...[missing word]

They are obviously filthy, therefore nothing to do with food. Possibly used on asses as an attitude adjuster but that is an off label use.

An image search won't help, I took this picture and had never seen these before despite living in VT for ten years and right across the border for another 20.
