While an anglicized Native American is sometimes called (by other Native Americans) an "apple" (red on the outside, white on the inside).

You're a breast? (edited to add that I now see that both Zippyt and Wolf beat me to it...I gotta stop going for the obvious cheap jokes)

I would also like to add that I think it is one of the stupidest things in the world to call anyone anything (Oreo, coconut, apple, etc) because their personality doesn't jive with someone else's notion of who or what they should be based on their appearance. It is *that* sort of thinking that perpetuates prejudice, bigotry and hatred. Pfft!

Couldn't agree more. There is an Indian Mafia (phrase coined by my folks) and I routinely get "the secret handshake" and fail miserably. Then I have to work peaceably with these people who believe I'm some sort of traitor.
I Yam What I Yam. (Even if I'm not orange.)

We like who you yam, Pie. In fact, I'm sort of partial to yam pie, come to think of it.

Brother bought a coconut, he bought it for a dime
His sister had another one, she paid it for the lime

She put the lime in the coconut, she drank 'em both up (3x)
Put the lime in the coconut, she called the doctor, woke him up, and said

Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take, I said
Doctor, to relieve this bellyache, I said
Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take, I said
Doctor, to relieve this bellyache

Now let me get this straight
Put the lime in the coconut, you drank 'em both up (3x)
Put the lime in the coconut, you called your doctor, woke him up, and said

Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take, I said
Doctor, to relieve this bellyache, I said
Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take, I said
Doctor, to relieve this bellyache

You put the lime in the coconut, you drink 'em both together
Put the lime in the coconut, then you feel better
Put the lime in the coconut, drink 'em both up
Put the lime in the coconut, and call me in the morning

I've certainly heard the term - tends to be in areas where different generations of immigration are thrown together.

Ducks - the song foot quotes was in Practical Magic and (in the UK) used in a Lime Coke advert. As well as the official source quoted of course!
