They are used to open cardboard boxes without damaging the box. Sort of a box spud if you will. You slip it in and jiggle it about...

Make one for me, I'll use it at my night job. "Box cutter? No way, I got this here, um, stick!"

I guess back in the day it was a good idea to not hurt the boxes. Re-use was recycling. Now we crush them all and bale them for recycling.

Do you have any more? That was a lot of fun.

it is a cool picture... I get the sense that it's a cross sectional view of some bird bone, a skull plate or a breastbone or a pelvis, some large flat section, not a long linear bone like in a limb.
