Getting back to the HAGS state mentioned upthread, when I was in undergrad anth school, we called it HAPS. I'm trying to remember what the acronym stood for...sorry. Anyway, it is a similar physiological response to specific stimuli that is often mistaken for supernatural interference.
Having experienced a HAGS/HAPS occurence while doing fieldwork, I can attest that it is frightening. Imagine not knowing what you're experiencing or being taught that it was either aliens (or in the case of the people I was studying) voodou loas. Yikes. |

Found this today ... research shows that Alien Abuductees suffer stress symptoms similar to those of Vietnam vets ...
