The reason why some people are homosexual is inconclusive. While research shows that for some, it's a choice. However, there were some evidence that the brain of a homosexual person is different from a hetereosexual person.

Opposition to homosexuality is amazingly schizophrenic. Along the lines of that "choice" issue, there's also the question of why it matters. Are they arguing that gays shouldn't get discrimination protection if it's a choice, because the other categories aren't choices, like race, gender, disability, religion, age... wait. Religion? The one reason for their objection is a counterexample to their own argument.

This issue is ruled by emotion, not by logic. Using rational logical arguments only works on those that respect rationality and logic. Please note that it is not necessary to respect rationality and logic in order to use it in one's own arguments.

Just found out my daughter completed her Masters of Nursing degree
this past week, specializing in Health Care Systems, AND ! today she was accepted into the Nurse Practitioner program. She's been the Trauma Coordinating Manager for central Oregon, and wants eventually to become the Director of Nursing for Emergency Rooms... but that will be at least 3 years and many $K in tuition away. Parents are allowed to be very proud of their kids ! |

My eldest niece just got her GSCE results (the exams kids take at the end of secondary[high] school aged 16): she came away with 12 good passes; only one result was below the A-C band (she got a D in Religious Education). Everything else was As, Bs or Cs.
Which means she has achieved her college offer conditions It also means, as I pointed out to her, that she is now officially a Brainy Cow and as such can no longer take the piss out of me for being brainy :P She strenuously denied this but she did so with a very big smile on her face *grins* I'm so proud of her. She's growing up into such a lovely young woman. She's one of the most balanced teenagers I've ever met. I keep waiting for somekind of mad rebellion but it doesn't look like that's going to happen *chuckles*

She doesn't need the rebellious act, she gets street creds for her crazy politician aunt, with the muzzled killer dog.

Thing is; our Meels tends to talk about herself as if she isn't clever. Possibly because coming up behind her is a little sister who is terrifyingly intelligent. It's nice for her to get a chance to show off her mad leet skillz in a nice visible way.

I'd be proud to get a D in religious education but nothing else.
The self-deprecating behaviour is a bit of a a worry, though.

Workin' on a novel. Been writing it over and over to figure it out, got 51K words in and started over. Twice.
Now I've got a good Chapter One that I don't plan to change and have worked out a few of the plot holes that held me back. Yay! It's all probably self-indulgent drivel but dammit, I'm going to create QUALITY self-indulgent drivel. |
