Went to Box Hill (Elspodes favourite UK location) at midnight with Mrs CF - laid on our backs on the grass along with about 100 other people and gazed at the heavens for an hour to catch the meteor shower

Went to the MS150 at Keuka College. We pussed out on the 100 mile first day, since we're not fit enough to ride up to expectations. We did the metric century instead on day one and enough miles the second to put us over 100 miles for the weekend. We did however drink lots of local wine and I had my A game in place for smart ass commentary.

A couple of teammates couldn't come: one funeral, yep MS still sucks and one activated reservist, yep GWB still sucks.

This weekend was more about what I didn't do.

Friend invited me to go with her and her mom to new "casino" (slots parlor) in Chester on Saturday. Ultimately decided not to go, but that I would join them on Sunday because they were going to go to a new Italian restaurant that I liked.

There was a cookout I was invited to on Sunday, which happened to be just down the street from the Italian Restaurant. Great deal. Hang out with friends at BBQ, then tool on over to the restaurant at around 5.

Call friend to set up time for Italian restaurant. "Oh, gee, we went last night. The restaurant was too expensive at the Casino, so we went to the new Italian restaurant."

"You mean the restaurant that we are going to tonight, that one?"

"Oh. Oops." Followed by long list of things she and her mother are doing tonight before they will think about going to dinner.

"You go on and do that. I have a party to go to that I was going to leave to meet up with you, but I'm just going to stay, now."

I ended up having a fantastic time at the BBQ, great burgers and ribs, and conversation. And a phone call from my friend at around 8 o'clock, when I was too many burgers and beers into my enjoyment to want to leave. "Mom and I are going to Applebees ..."

She obviously hadn't listened when I told her that I was going to stay at this other party.

Stopped by this natural ampitheater in northern New Mexico on the way to jump in a lake! The rock formations are so beautiful I thought I might share. This is about 5 miles away from Georgia O'keefe's "Ghost Ranch".

Saturday: Take books back to the library. Attempt to clean up the living room & dining room to convince Mrs. Dallas that we didn't live like wild animals during her absence. Attempt (unsuccessfully) to persuade kids, especially daughter, to straighten up their rooms, ditto. Picked up Mrs. Dallas from the airport. Did laundry (including 3 guests worth of sheets & towels) for all of us (5 loads total). Cooked dinner & put the kids to bed, as Mrs. Dallas collapsed from jet lag around 7 PM.

Sunday: Church. Lunch. Trip to local hardware store to buy ceiling fan. Determined there was none to be had there. Trip to Home Depot for ceiling fan. Wailing & gnashing of teeth as daughter only liked models > $100. Finally chose cool-looking stainless steel & black model. Went home. Took everything out of the box & started putting it together. Discovered that the mounting bracket was too large for the ceiling box. Complained, packed the box up, and went back to Home Depot. Got a new fan, not so cool, but it had a smaller bracket (verified by inspection of already-open box). Drove home. Took out only the bracket and attempted to mount it. Discovered I didn't have the right size screws. Ran to the hardware store. Came back and successfully mounted the bracket. Left for second church service (this time to hear Mrs. Dallas play). Got home. Installed the rest of the fan, with considerably less light. Attempted to correct a slight wobble at high speed, and broke the little rubber clip in the process. Finished at 9:45PM. Received thanks from daughter, along with comment that she really had wanted the blades facing the other way (different colors on each side), and could I change them? Agreed to do so at a later unspecified date.

Enjoyed yummy dinner of tortilla chips, salsa, and martini.

Hmm. Saturday, woke up feeling low, everybody is goin on holiday and i'm not etc etc. Cheered up and took dog for a walk with mum and her dog, before she set off. Had a quiet day, spent mainly in the valley with Pilau. Went down to J's house and helped him with some stuff, had a couple of beers etc. Went home, did a few chores, went back down to J's and drank some wine with him and the other J, (my friend, his girlfriend) and then walked back home at about 10pm in time to watch Match of the Day. Moped for rest of night, occassionally checking the Cellar and phone for new posts/messages. Moped some more. Went to bed.

Sunday. Woke up feeling edgy. J came around to get something off my internet before they set off to prague. Off he goes...here's me feeling a little deserted...go to valley with Pilau. Intermittently check phone to see if any messages from D have come through...nothing. He's vanished off the map. Phone Sundae Girl and exchange whines, gossip and philosopical discussion. Go down to J's house and use his computer to burn a bunch of jazz cds D leant me ages ago and which I really aught to return. Drank some beer and called in on my bro: saw the new ferrets.

Went back home, feeling quite a bit better.Mess about in the Cellar for a bit, watch some tv, drink some beer, go to bed, feeling much better, read a while and go to sleep.

Monday morning, woke up feeling more or less back to normal. No longer bothered by fact others are on holiday.

The first day of my weekend, what I did this weekend, the first day of this weekend I woke up. Then, I went downtown to look for a job. Then I hung out in front of the drugstore. The second day of my weekend, I woke up, then I went downtown to look for a job. Then I hung out in front of the drugstore...

About as exciting, anyway. :p

Well I think that's probably why J chose that location to take his new girl (also J).:P

I wasn't feeling deserted because J was off to prague...more that everybody in the whole world was going on holiday this weekend but me.
