The only care I've ever shown them is after they come out of the dishwasher, I let them air dry before tossing them back in the drawer because I'm paranoid about mold. |

My mother, grandmother and aunts all had maple cutting boards that went through the dishwasher and before that had been scrubbed by hand with an SOS or Brillo pad. They were bleached white like driftwood but never warped or came apart.

After decades of cooking on and heating with a wood stove she got a brand new house in 1953 with all the bells and whistles including central heat, garage, gas stove, and a doorbell.

My grandfather was born in 1880, lived to 92.
My grandmother was born in 1890, lived to 92. My mother was born in 1919, lived to 95. I was born in 1944, wont see state average.

It's certainly an odd shape, but it was just a rock that came from a gravel truck. There are two gravel quarries within five or six miles of my house, so I share the road with these big trucks all the time. But this is the first time that one of my vehicles sustained damage from them.
The good news is, I called the gravel company and they're going to replace my windshield at their cost. I'm particularly glad about that, because I have a $250 deductible on my auto insurance and the replacement glass would only cost $225, so insurance wouldn't cover the new windshield. Yay me! Even better, the new glass is coming right to ME - I don't have to go anywhere to get it fixed. More yay!
