...and this lamp, and this paddle game...AND THAT'S ALL I NEED.

i wonder how you'd reconcile holding the bulk of the power (and the probably draconian measures you'd have to implement to do such a thing) with society being peaceful and prosperous seems to me: utopia (and it is a kind of utopia you propose, yes?) is unachievable, mostly because there's always gonna be one who says 'no' to the cage no matter how comfortable it might be and: it seems that's what your society might be...a large, comfortable, cage...it almost follows it would have to be...to hold the power: you'd have to suppress dissent of any kind (except for the carefully cultivated kind)...your fingers would have to be in multiple pies to ensure you remain the man and for the bulk of folks in your society: this might suit them fine...but all it takes is one to dissent violently and cleverly, and the house of cards collapses most certainly: someone would come along and try to take you out...some would attempt this because they want your power...a small (perhaps as small as one) number would attempt to take you out simply because -- again -- a gilded cage is still a cage if you would, glatt, think on how your society might be structured so you retain full power while the citizenry simultaneously 'have a good time, get along, and are prosperous' in part: i think your solutions will have roots in how you came to power in the first place (whatever scenario you envision) i'm curious how you (or someone like you) might make it all work...

Really. Never mind. I don't want any part of it. As dictator, to ensure my own safety and power, I'd have to kill my political opposition. Even my family. Look at the royal family in Nepal. You can't trust anyone when you are at the top. And I certainly don't want the work of creating a government if I don't get the power.

We had a thread about this topic ages ago and in fact quite a number of us joined a forum where you actually do create your own government and shape it to however you like.
It didn't really seem to have reasonable outcomes, and I can't remember the name of the website, but I'm sure someone here could, if they could be bothered and wanted to have the discussion again.

So, the game is, ask a really hard question, complain about not getting serious answers, then when someone does offer something thoughtful, pick it to pieces.
Meh.

I would build a government of the people, by the people, and for the people in which only I would hold the legal status of person (therefore the conundrum).
