Depts. 798 and 799

Quote:
*10% Off All Electronics, Audio/Video, Major and Small Appliance purchases. Employee Shopping Pass cannot be used on: Ritz Camera, Optical, Beauty Salon, Depts. 798 and 799, Oriental Rugs, Charity Merchandise, Restaurant/ Catering, Service Center, Hearing, Motherhood Maternity, Travelcenter, Gift Cards, Ticketmaster, online orders or payment on account. Cannot be combined with any other coupon. Cannot be redeemed for prior sales.
I was able to pick up a shopping pass for Boscovs. While they have gotten a lot better in paring down the exclusions, this newest bunch caught my eye. What are departments 798 and 799? Are we supposed to know this?

Then I got to thinking. Maybe departments 798 and 799 are like Area 51 or Wherehouse 13, places that have stuff that is so cool that they need to be numbered to keep out hordes of curious onlookers. Stuff that practically jumps off the shelves. We're talking Willy Wonka and Mr. Magorium here.

So what kind of stuff would be so cool it could only be put in someplace that's only referred to by number and is never discounted.

Alien technology - A lot of cool consumer goods came from manned spaceflight from Earth, but there hasn't been any from traffic coming from the other direction - until now. Want to beat traffic, a hyperdrive is the way to go.

Magic Items - Did you think there was no such thing as a pair of Boots of Speed or a Bag of Holding?

Politicians - Up until recently, only major corporations could buy a politician. However, with the recent recession, Boscov's buyers were able to cut some once-in-a-lifetime deals. Can't take the time to go to a town meeting? Buy direct!

Anyone have any other ideas?

You didn't really think they put the ark of the covenant in a warehouse, did you?

Why not just call Boscovs and ask?

"Say, I was reading your restrictions on my shopping pass, and I noticed 'Dept. 798 and 799'. What are those departments?"

Perhaps it's a clearance section. Stuff there is already discounted, so it would stand to reason...

Anyway, the Ark of the Covenant isn't in a warehouse.

I'm just going to preserve Sundae's post and signature line together for posterity.
