Don't you sometimes just wish...
... you could mindmeld or something..y'know, just plant what you know about something, with all its levels and subtleties straight into someone else's mind?
Wouldn't that be great? And for others to be able to do that back. Imagine what discussions would be like... if you say 'cite', they'd be able to show you what they know. Total understanding in an instant. Now...I am not saying it wouldn't have it's drawbacks... but hey...total understanding? How cool would that be? What do you sometimes just wish?

total understanding still wouldn't lead to total agreement, or more amicable discussion imo.

I'll just keep wishing I had no more need to keep worshipping the porcelain god I think.

When I was in my destructive relationship with the Evil Ex I dreamed of something like this.
I think what I really wanted was for him to get the pain and distress some of his actions caused me. In hindsight I realise he simply did not care. So it would have been worthless. Yes I would sometimes like to impart my understanding of a situation without the need for words. But words are my passion. How could I give up my pleasure at a poem or haiku just to be able to present raw data and emotions to someone who will only disregard them due to their own life experience. What I do want (right now, due to personal circumstances) is a medical tricorder and one of those vaginal-douche-looking implements to shoot me in the neck and cure what ails me with no more guessing. Or Dr House.

The idea of being able to put across the whole of an idea, in total, without being limited to words on a page appeals to me. I find discussions on gender, in particular, quite frustrating. It's such a complex topic, and in order to make some of the points that I'd like to make, I'd need to either write a book on here, or list a bibliography of texts.
It's like trying to explain a complex mathematical equation, that should cover three blackboards, in a few lines. Doesn't compute. By the same token, I find economics a really tough subject to get my head around. particularly, when talking about tax in America, and especially so when the people talking are coming from the Right. I'd like to understand more where they're coming from. But, a little like the gender question, the base knowledge isn't there and it would take several economics text books to get me close.
