yes, it is. But my house is blue and I don't want it to look like a Christmas ornament. In fact part of what made me consider blue is that the box looks a bit like Santa's house. And red white and blue... there's always an American flag out front right there, too.....

Gluing up!

Another project in the background there. There's a vaguely heart shaped depression in the bark of our Sycamore tree which faces the deck. In gonna get the copper engraved with our initials and wedding date and mount it there.

Just spraying poly on the back and trying to decide which color the 8 should be. Might leave it natural for now.

I'll mount it on the house next to the door.

The color should be the same as the siding or the same as the blue on your cock.

Well, I've still got to paint the 8.

Where's the flag? How will he know you have outgoing mail?

Oh, right. I keep forgetting to take a picture of that. Inside the lid, there's a flattish "S" and 2 low blocks. When we have outgoing mail, we tuck the letter under the S and leave the lid open. I'll get a pic later.

Nice, I like the out-going signal. Is that common? We have big end of driveway Hill William boxes with flags here.

dunno, I kind of invented that. the bolt for the cock pull holds the S thing there. I was gonna put a spring under it, but the tension it has from the shape in combo with those little blocks holds the mail pretty snugly. I needed the blocks for the screws in the hinges cuz the birch board I used was only 1/4" thick.

Some boxes like that have hangers underneath for newspapers coming in and mail going out.
