Now,for one of mine...Arch Enemy - Carry The Cross
We walk through the ages
The world on our shoulders A burden we carry To the dark end of our days A thousand eyes watching Every step we are taking Waiting to see us Struggle and fall And when we are beaten The cross holds us down I hear them laughing And walking away Carry the cross And suffer the loss Hear my confession Forever damnation Reincarnation Bleeding forever Recover in pain Pain gives me strength Pick up the cross And carry it on Over and over The wheel turns again And when we are beaten The cross holds us down I hear them laughing And walking away Carry the cross And suffer the loss Hear my confession Forever damnation |

Mercy Now
Mary Gauthier My father could use a little mercy now The fruits of his labor Fall and rot slowly on the ground His work is almost over It won't be long and he won't be around I love my father, and he could use some mercy now My brother could use a little mercy now He's a stranger to freedom He's shackled to his fears and doubts The pain that he lives in is Almost more than living will allow I love my bother, and he could use some mercy now My church and my country could use a little mercy now As they sink into a poisoned pit That's going to take forever to climb out They carry the weight of the faithful Who follow them down I love my church and country, and they could use some mercy now Every living thing could use a little mercy now Only the hand of grace can end the race Towards another mushroom cloud People in power, well They'll do anything to keep their crown I love life, and life itself could use some mercy now Yeah, we all could use a little mercy now I know we don't deserve it But we need it anyhow We hang in the balance Dangle 'tween hell and hallowed ground Every single one of us could use some mercy now Every single one of us could use some mercy now Every single one of us could use some mercy now I was listening to an acoustic station and to my suprise they played a country song. The lyrics were right on. |

Pass The Flame -- John Elefante
Three a.m. - a baby boy; a new life began
I held him in my arms and knew one day he'd be a man And soon I'd have to tell him that this world is not our home We must give our lives to Jesus; we are not our own But for now just let me hold you, a little while Let me adore you while you sleep Thank You, Lord, for such an angel Make him Yours to keep And then I whispered in his ear There is something you must hear Any way the wind blows Don't you think that God knows We must pass the flame We must pass the flame We are the light in a darkened world We are the fire on the arrow We must pass the flame We must pass the flame She was a portrait of innocence I took her by the hand For better or for worse we vowed that with Jesus we'd stand We would instill upon our children that this world is not our home We would tell them that our treasure is the promise that we own But for now just let me hold you a little while Let me adore you while you sleep Thank You, Lord, for such an angel Make them Yours to keep So let me whisper in your ear There is something you must hear And Lord, help us teach Your children well And turn embers in to fire Make Your love their soul desire The doctors came into the room; the news was not too good I said, "Daddy, if I could take your place, you know that I would." He said, "Son, please don't worry go and be there for your wife You know we'll be together in an everlasting life." Then I said, "Dad, I want to hold you a little while Let me adore you while you sleep." Thank You, Lord, for such an angel Take him home to keep And then he whispered in my ear There is something you must hear Any way the wind blows Don't you think that God knows We must pass the flame We must pass the flame We are the light in a darkened world We are the fire on the arrow We must pass the flame We must pass the flame

Can the meaning be funny? One of my Favorites! (car sing along song)
Cowboy Dan. MM Well, Cowboy Dan's a major player in the cowboy scene He goes to the reservation drinks and gets mean He's gonna start a war He hops in his pickup puts the pedal to the floor And says "I got mine but I want more" Well, Cowboy Dan's a major player in the cowboy scene He goes to the reservation drinks and gets mean He drove the desert, fired his rifle in the sky And says, "God if I have to die you will have to die" Well, Cowboy Dan's a major player in the cowboy scene He goes the the reservation drinks and gets mean I didn't move to the city, the city moved to me And I want out desperately Can't do it, not even if sober Can't get that engine turned over Standing in the tall grass Thinking nothing You know we need oxygen to breath Everytime you think you're walking you're just moving the ground Everytime you think you're talking you're just moving your mouth Everytime you're looking you're just looking down Well, Cowboy Dan's a major player in the cowboy scene He goes to the reservation drinks and gets mean He's gonna start a war He hops in his pickup puts the pedal to the floor And says "I got mine but I want more" Well, Cowboy Dan's a major player in the cowboy scene He goes to the reservation drinks and gets mean He drove the desert, fired his rifle in the sky And says, "God if I have to die you will have to die" Well, Cowboy Dan's a major player in the cowboy scene He goes the the reservation drinks and gets mean I didn't move to the city, the city moved to me And I want out desperately Can't do it, not even if sober Can't get that engine turned over

Don't Blink -- Kenny Chesney
I turned on the evening news
Saw a old man being interviewed Turning a hundred and two today Asked him what's the secret to life He looked up from his old pipe Laughed and said "All I can say is." Don't blink Just like that you're six years old and you take a nap and you Wake up and you're twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife Don't blink You just might miss your babies growing like mine did Turning into moms and dads next thing you know your "better half" Of fifty years is there in bed And you're praying God takes you instead Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster than you think So don't blink I was glued to my tv when it looked like he looked at me and said "Best start putting first things first." Cause when your hourglass runs out of sand You can't flip it over and start again Take every breathe God gives you for what it's worth Don't Blink Just like that you're six years old and you take a nap and you Wake up and you're twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife Don't blink You just might miss your babies growing like mine did Turning into moms and dads next thing you know your "better half" Of fifty years is there in bed And you're praying God takes you instead Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster than you think So don't blink So I've been tryin' ta slow it down I've been tryin' ta take it in In this here today, gone tomorrow world we're livin' in Don't blink Just like that you're six years old and you take a nap and you Wake up and you're twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife Don't blink You just might miss your babies growing like mine did Turning into moms and dads next thing you know your "better half" Of fifty years is there in bed And you're praying God takes you instead Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster then you think So Don't blink Naw, don't blink, don't blink Life Goes Faster Than You Think Don't Blink...

You're Gonna Miss This -- Trace Adkins
She was staring out the window of their SUV
Complaining, saying "I can't wait to turn 18" She said "I'll make my own money, and I'll make my own rules" Mamma put the car in park out there in front of the school Then she kissed her head and said "I was just like you" You're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast These are some good times So take a good look around You may not know it now But you're gonna miss this Before she knows it she's a brand new bride In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by He tells her "It's a nice place" She says "It'll do for now" Starts talking about babies and buying a house Daddy shakes his head and says "Baby, just slow down" Cause you're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast These are some good times So take a good look around You may not know it now But you're gonna miss this Five years later there's a plumber workin' on the water heater Dog's barkin', phone's ringin' One kid's cryin', one kid's screamin' And she keeps apologizin' He says "They don't bother me. I've got 2 babies of my own. One's 36, one's 23. Huh, it's hard to believe, but... You're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast These are some good times So take a good look around You may not know it now But you're gonna miss this

Flint, my friend, new dad, I mean to get this across to you, too.
These songs *clamor* in my mind and my heart. I'm maybe a page ahead of you in the same book. Our "babies" are 21, 19, and 13. I sit here at my desk, looking at my right hand. I am holding it, palm up, looking at my empty palm. And I see our youngest's head cradled there, his rump not even reaching the crook of my elbow. I can feel the warmth of his head, his wispy baby hair tickling my fingers. He turned 13 last week. We've been deployed on our final tour to the Teenage Zone. That's what you get when you blink. Pass the damn tissues.

ahh that's so sweet , it's nice to hear a man be tender. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- U2 I have climbed highest mountains I have run through the fields Only to be with you Only to be with you I have run I have crawled I have scaled these city walls These city walls Only to be with you But I still haven't found what I'm looking for But I still haven't found what I'm looking for I have kissed hardened lips Felt the healing fingertips It burned like a fire This burning desire I have spoke with eternal angels I have held the hands of a devil It was warm in the night I was cold as a stone But I still haven't found what I'm looking for But I still haven't found what I'm looking for I believe in the Kingdom Come When all the colors will bleed into one Bleed into one Well, yes I'm still running You broke the bonds And you loosened the chains Carried the cross Of all my shame all my shame You know I believe it But I still haven't found what I'm looking for But I still haven't found what I'm looking for But I still haven't found what I'm looking for But I still haven't found what I'm looking for Last edited by skysidhe; 04-15-2008 at 04:36 PM. DON'T TALK
Natalie Merchant / Christian Burial Music © 1987 don't talk, I will listen don't talk, you keep your distance I'd rather hear some truth tonight than entertain your lies take your poison silently let me be, let me close my eyes don't talk, I'll believe it don't talk, listen to me instead I know that if you think of it both long enough and hard it's the drink you drown your troubles in is the trouble you're in now talk, talk, talk about it you talk as if you care but when your talk is over tilt that bottle in the air tossing back more than your share don't talk, I can guess it don't talk, well now you're restless and you need somewhere to put the blame for how you feel inside you'll look for a close and easy mark and you'll see me as fair game talk, talk, talk about it talk as if you care but when your talk is over tilt that bottle in the air tossing back more than your share you talk talk talk about it you talk as if you care. I'm marking every word and I can tell this time for sure your talk is the finest I have heard don't talk, let me go on dreaming how your eyes they glow so fiercely I can tell you're inspired by the name you just chose for me now what was it? o, never mind we will talk, talk, talk about this when your head is clear I'll discuss this in the morning but until then you may talk but I won't hear

when i was younger, i thought....I'll probably be moved by 'Cats in the Cradle' at some point in my life.
My dad is retired now, my son is 9, and I'm in the position Harry is in in the song. I'm actually using that song as a cautionary tale. I don't tear up when i hear it, but i'd be lying if I said it didn't effect me. I bet my dad wells up when he hears it though.

Landslide by Fleetwood Mac does that to me, every time! I almost started bawling just copying the lyrics:
I took my love, I took it down Climbed a mountain and I turned around I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills till the landslide brought me down Oh, mirror in the sky What is love Can the child within my heart rise above Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides Can I handle the seasons of my life Well, Ive been afraid of changing cause Ive built my life around you But time makes you bolder Children get older Im getting older too Oh, take my love, take it down Climb a mountain and turn around If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills Well the landslide will bring it down If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills Well maybe the landslide will bring it down
