I bought $250 worth of beer, wine, and alkehol for the Referees Party in a weeks time.

So the referees really are blind... drunk at least.

Well at least the day before the tourny many of them may be. Actually the Ref accessors who come to town, about 10 or so this year, drink a hell of a lot more than the actual refs. I bet there are about 1/3 who drink moderately, 1/3 who drink occasionally, and then 1/3 who don't drink at all. And of course there are the one or two who push the limit, but they are rare in this group. Everyone takes it pretty seriously. The Beer is mostly Guinness and Bass which is not cheap.
The blind part is probably more true.

I do most of the shopping and I haven't shopped since my surgery three weeks ago. It got pretty spartan...

Pico, what I meant was, the son in the picture was not the son receiving the keyboard. I took a big risk in involving the pictured son in the acquisition, because the kid cannot keep a secret, even for the 2 hours between wrapping and unwrapping. Within 10 minutes of seeing other son, pictured son asked unpictured son if he liked music.
HLJ, he isn't taking it to his mom's house. He will be back here in 2 months for the summer. It's an "at Dad's house" item. We do that because items that go to their mom's house end up mysteriously disappearing, being sold on Ebay, broken or just boxed up and stored. |

I know you meant nothing by it, HLJ, but for future reference, you should be careful when talking to a joint-custodial parent about where "home" is. It has the potential to offend.

No offense taken, Clod (and HLJ.) The only time that phrasing really bothers me anymore is when people say it that way to them. I don't want them to feel that they are just visiting here. I want them to understand that this place is also home.

Yeah, having two sets is weird, and clothes we just can't do. Usually we end up just adding to the clothes repertoire and hoping they get a chance to wear them after the summer, too. Kids grow out of them fast, anyway.
We try to suppress the urge to trash talk. Pretty successful at it. They have begun to figure it out. Not old enough to make "the choice" if they want to, but I wonder what the next couple of years will bring. |

I bought a small bird feeder to replace the one I made. Then when they stick up their little beaks at that one too, I'll buy them a primo- mesh awesome bird feeder.
