The re-mote, from me, the re-mote from the wife, or "the spud-gun" when either of us particularly feel like couch potatoes.

It's the remote. A friend of mine calls it the TV box. Weirdo.

This year for Xmas we got a harmony 880 remote , I am still working on the logic ( of what all I want to be off and on at any given time ) But it is PROMISING !!!
It is to replace the 5 remotes that you have to go thru in the proper sequence ,
we had to leave written and drawn Instructions for our neibors a while back as they were watching our house while we were out of town .

I just got a new Cable-box DVR that came with a universal remote that amazingly does almost everything I need done. A huge improvement over the last one.

And I call them all remotes.

I reckon nonsense words can be spelled any nonsensical way I damn well please And anyway, I really was only interested in Jim's opinion.

They missed oojimaflip from the list. See, it's all about Jim

I'd start making use of 'hodad' because I find it unusual, but I'm sure that I'd be misunderstood.

I'll sometimes use the term "item" for such things. And occasionally "unit".
