Doesn't hurt the cows? I don't think they can really say that... after all, the cow can't tell them one way or the other. It looks extremely cruel to me. Poor cows. And they don't look very pampered to me...

I've seen lots of animals express quite loudly and violently that they are in pain. This is why they have to confine them very tightly for other procedures, like artificial insemination.
