My brother is the one who pays the vet bills for an abandoned cat, but the neighborhood considers him a community cat. Everybody loves him and he mooches or smooches without prejudice. If you are a human who might have food or a soft chair in the sun or kids or just want company, he's there. He is even welcomed at one house a couple of doors down even after he discovered their cat's litter box on the 2nd floor. He meows at their door, they let him in, he socializes then trots upstairs, uses the litter box, and then wants out to go visit someone else.
Not sure what the law is where you live, but in some places cats are considered 'semi-domesticated' animals and not subject to licensing. That means a found cat is yours even if someone else raised it, but it works for them if they find 'your' cat, too. Good on you for adopting the kitty, and tolerating the urinating on the floor. I'd try 3 boxes or more because that is not a habit I would encourage. I have 2 boxes for one cat, but she's older and I want her to have every chance to get to the box in time. And I only have to clean every other day, too. btw, you didn't ask for advice, but large storage bins with litter in the bottom make nice big boxes for multiple cats as long as they are agile enough to jump the side. Good luck with the kitties!

AND is an excellent way to keep the litter tracking down to a bare minimum.

Exactly. Why don't they ever learn to wipe their feet?

She's made herself quite at home...

I ask you, does this look like a cat who's just been brought into a house with 5 other kitties?

No, this looks like a cat who's been there for a long time and is perfectly content and settled. This girl just came right in and started acting like she'd been here all along. I haven't even heard any hissing. Amazing.

She's beautiful! With that black patch on her nose I would have had to name her Koala, but I like Candy Corn better. Enjoy your new kitty!

I must specify, CC is named after the "Indian Corn" variety, which has cocoa in it. You know, this stuff:

I'd just bought a bag for my son, who is a sugar addict and has been begging for the stuff since July. And I suppose she reminded him of those colors. Not the ordinary candy corn.

Good to see C.C. is settling in to her new home.
I love hearing pet names and how people chose them. The backstories are pretty neat, sometimes.

Me, too! I have never seen candy corn like that, and can see how it's a perfect name. I'm too shy and inhibited to start a thread - go for it!

Pilau's name comes from pilau rice. The kind that gets made for festival food and celebrations, rather than the plain yellow stuff :P

As you can see, there are 3 basic colours though the effect is more because of bleed. Pilau is a tri-coloured bearded collie, which are relatively rare and prized amongst breeders. The rice is red, yellow and white. Pilau is brown, ginger and white.
