He'll just follow all the other kids. No need to worry. He probably wont even miss you after the first two minutes.
Very exciting though huh?

I thought it was only Sydneysiders that said "kinder". It's kindergarten over here. Not that any kinder was going out in the actual garten today, mind you.

Woooh hoo - the lab was closed yesterday! So me not going in was PERFECT! I didn't even have to take the day off!

Yesterday was my wife's birthday, and I took a planned day off. It worked out well, because school was closed, so the entire family got a day off together in the middle of the week. It was a good time with the family and nothing planned.
We had ordered some home office furniture from LL Bean, and UPS delivered it yesterday morning. They also delivered a space saving LCD monitor I ordered on Newegg. So it gave us something to do, putting this small corner desk together and a little side table thing. And moving the PC upstairs. We're moving our home office out of our guest bedroom and into the nook in our upstairs hallway. The guest bedroom is slowly being converted into our daughter's bedroom. She's in 4th grade now, and it's really time that she stop sharing a room with her little brother. We just have to move some junk into our basement and figure out where to put the filing cabinet. So I'm happy because yesterday was so good, and productive. |

MonkeyBoy cracks me up; I don't know what I would do without him.
This morning, he came up to me and said, "I made a snicky-snack for you to take to work. French toast, and an apple." "I made the apple from scratch..." (Turns and walks down the hall.) "...Just call me GOD."[/movie trailer voice guy] |

Without a doubt. You've seen the pictures and the smile. It's obvious.
But I was thinking of the Descarte joke. The bartender asks Descarte if he'll have another drink. He says, "I think not", and disappears. (René Descartes is famous for the quote, "I think, therefore I am.")

Finally, finally, finally.... It looks like my Great Aunt's house might be sold.
Means nothing to me (it won't trickle down as she has 4 siblings still alive) but she made my Mum executor of the will, and it's been really tough for Mum to get everything sorted. There was an offer on the house, which the four accepted, only to find at the very last minute that they couldn't sell because no-one had the Deeds. The solicitor never said a word until contracts were about to be signed. This went on for a while even though Mum asked the solicitor whether he had checked her bank when the issue came up. Oh, yeah! The bank had a sealed envelope belong to [Great Aunt]! Could Mum go to London with copies of all docs and identification to collect it? Yes , it was the Deeds. I mean we did make a day of it, visiting Nan's grave and Mum's grandparents' grave, and having pie n mash in Barkingside, and buying proper bagels just before the bakery shut early (it was a Friday). But then Dad had to drive down to Billericay to drop the Deeds off. Followed by another phone call and email. They now accept Mum has the right to sell the house on behalf of the siblings, but in the mean time, house prices have gone through the floor. Alice died a year ago next week. All the delay in between (not just this, other issues which Mum has chased and chased and chased) has been down to the solicitor. The Deeds thing is minor, but it's been like this all the way along. WTF are they being paid for? They even told Mum she should be claiming for her time (she should!) but she refuses because she is working for family - all she will take is expenses on travel costs. Lord knows how much it has cost her in phone calls, letters etc. Anyway, it looks like they will be able to sell if they acept a £15k drop in price. Mum called all the siblings tonight and they are all of the same mind - just get rid of it! Grandad is the poorest, but hates what his daughter is having to go through. Well, she gets herself worked up. Two others are really very well off. The one in between could use the money, but doesn't want to play a waiting game. I feel for Mum. But once it's sold she'll get a lovely holiday. I'm pushing for her to have a trip down the Rhine, recreating a holiday she had while at school. Dads has never seen Germany and she'd love to go back there. And the responsibility will be off her shoulders. Hurray! |

I'm happy because we're going to a nice seafood restaurant with friends for dinner tonight. I've been looking forward to it all week.

I quit a couple of weeks ago. It all came to a head when I needed time off because Tman got scalded with boiling water on new years day (he's fine and only has one more specialist appointment), but we had various appointments and days off....which made my boss even more unreasonable. One morning I was at the hospital and my boss' wife rang and told me to get back to work as soon as I could because [boss name] NEEDED me...like wtf? what about the 5yr old...he doesnt need me? Things just went bad to worse and I decided that it wasnt worth it anymore |

since they get paid by time, they obviously take their time to get things done - that's how it seems to me. What a bummer about the house market - such a shame you can't sue the solicitors for the difference; but how sensible of the siblings to just say "let's sell".
Hugs to your mum and I hope she sends us a postcard!
