right. But it's an old old rhyme. These days most people eat turkey.

I believe you, that was just stuck in my head. As a tune, sung by Miss Piggy.

In a Christmnas Carol, the reformed Scrooge sends a young boy out to buy the biggest turkey he can find.
We had goose last year. Don't often have turkey. used to when i was a kid though, it was just the way everyone did it. My bro once had a Christmas job when he was in his teens, at a turkey farm. It had a profound effect on him. He hated it. About seven years ago, we (me, J, my bro, my SiL, Mum, and the girls) had a huge turkey. But...since all of us (except the girls) had dropped acid, we ended up naming the turkey Janice (I can't honestly remember the route we took to the naming) and didn't eat a lot of it. Mum was already halfway towards being a veggie, I think that helped her wih the rest of that journey.

You dropped acid with your mom on Christmas? You have a unique family dynamic.

I had a great time with my family at Thanksgiving. While the food finished up cooking in the ovens I played with the grand children outside. I let all of them try out my newly fixed drill press and practice drilling holes in a piece of wood. I also let the older ones try holding one of my 20 gauge shotguns since several said they want to learn to shoot. Being a grand parent is a lot of fun!
We had a big meal inside and then went out back and sat around a big fire I built in my firepit and ate dessert. The adults passed around a bottle of port and we toasted the evening! Great day! |

For the first time I trusted only the handy digital meat thermometer, and ignored the pop-up breast thermometer that comes stuck in the bird. I took the beast out of the oven before the thing popped, as we were 165 degrees F in the thigh and 160 in the breast. It was perfect.

Not something I've come across myself. I think that's a very old term. According to teh interwebz it's a warm spiced wine. So probably a little like a mulled wine.
