I remember the trash shadow, so I think I get the concept...it's just that...the side of a letter is infinite points, wouldn't it be?

I'm not sure what you mean. The letters are made up of spheres, whose circular silhouettes line up in different ways based on the viewing angle. In the screenshots, the greyer circles are spheres that are further away than the blacker ones.
