I hate vanity plates. I take the time to read them and most of them say the dumbest things like MY VAN or GLF NUT.
So in honor of moronic vanity plates everywhere, here's the one I came up with:

The best thing would be to get a vanity plate for a really crappy car. I knew a guy who had the worst piece of crap car ever. The bumper had fallen off so somehow he bolted on a piece of two by four (to keep it legal.) I suggested he get the following on a vanity plate, for contrast:

We have vanity plates for the sheer hell of it, 'cause they're so cheap here Matching his 'n' hers ones no less
(we wanted monster and beest, but monster was unavailable ) SG, round here, half of the high school students (=4th year thru upper 6th, dunno what they call them now) have cars, never mind college (=uni) kids. It's a cultural thing, plus we live near motown -second-hand cars are cheap and plentiful as all the autoworkers are encouraged financially to change their cars regularly.... this may change....

I thought about getting a commemorative plate in Virginia. Not a vanity plate but one that's marked with a special emblem or logo (Georgia Tech's logo in my case).
They wanted $25 for it which I didn't mind paying. Once. But they wanted the $25 every year I had the plate. I asked why thinking that the $25 was for the trouble of making the special plate. They had no answer (other than we're greedy bastards and just want it). I pointed out that the next year, I would pay the same amount as someone getting a new commemorative plate except that the other guy would get a plate and I wouldn't and explained that the plates, therefore, must be free. I got the usual blank DMV stare that you can only get at the DMV.

They charge every year on the theory that it's supporting a charitable cause.

The personalized plate I use to have was BA-TCHR stupid MO only lets you have 6 letters. My dad said it stood for Bad Ass Teacher, but wasn't what I was going for lol. I had it while I was in college. Someday I want to have Ruairi.
The only problem with the personalized plates is that if you do something wrong while driving someone is going to remeber your plate so much easier
