we used to have one, but they closed.

Maybe there is another.

One interesting thing that sleeplikethedead.com pointed out is that people who buy their mattresses online without testing them out are more satisfied with their purchases than people who go to a store and try them out.

They gave two reasons for this counter-intuitive point. First, online buyers do more research and are more educated purchasers. And second, the store experience is so useless, the 5 minutes the average buyer spends lying on a mattress doesn't help them choose a mattress with any success.

I just figured that the adjustable nature of the sleep number bed gave it an advantage. I think I'm zeroing in on 50, btw.

There is actually a study of people and their satisfaction with their choices. I think there's a TED talk about it. Essentially, when given too many choices people fear they made the wrong choice and tend to be dissatisfied. Given a limited choice, they tend to be satisfied with their choice.

I wonder if online buying is essentially a limited choice given the impracticality of trying multiple beds.
