Steve Goodman a capella:

As an aside, it was kind of astonishing to go from skimming the youtube comments on Jay-Z songs to skimming comments on Steve Goodman and John Prine songs -- suddenly, full sentences, goodwill, and capitalization. Our cultures, so so very fragmented, have some odd common places.

& John Prine doing a Steve Goodman song:

fireflies

some people might find this song somewhat annoying - but there's something about the changes (or the hook - or both) - I turn it up every time I hear it on the radio.

Not sure about Death Cab resemblance - do you have a particular track that comes to mind?

I would agree with Postal Service - never heard of them before you commented - looked up a few songs - I like them!

I love me some Mancini. dar's reference to the song 2525 in the 2010 thread led me on a google trip to find this gem. Mancini could arrange like no other.

Not music, but music related.

Beatles 3000

1000 years in the future, anthropologists and music historians discuss the legacy of John, Paul, Greg, and Scottie.

Scottie was always my favorite Beatle.

Oh man that Animal Collective is excellent, and that seems like exactly what I'd like all videos to be from now on. Just a cheap handheld camera, showing the musicians simply performing the song, at home or wherever. That's the video.
