Not knocking it; I love me some sugar water.
Yeah, I used to think it was sweetened with just honey, but a closer look at the label revealed the use of high fructose corn syrup. Liars!

The problem is, plain water is too fucking plain. Tea must have sugar. Fruit juices all have sweetener in them. I've searched my local grocery stores for Kern's Nectar to no avail (sweetened with cane sugar, but better than hfcs). And I loves me some diet Coke, but that shit'll kill ya worse than sugar will.

What's a girl to do?

Actually caffeine free Diet Coke. My heart doesn't like caffeine - starts bucking like a bronc.

I never tried Coke Zero, but it supposedly tastes more like regular Coke. The problem is, I don't like regular Coke at all; it's WAY too sweet for me. I much prefer the crisper, cleaner taste of Diet Coke.

Diet Coke vs. Coca-Cola Zero: What's The Difference?

Makes me laugh that Coke Zero was created because men felt that Diet Coke was too girly.

Marketer: I know! Let's make it sweeter and paint it black!

Diet Coke has an aftertaste I don't like. Actually I preferred Pepsi One but they killed it. Often late evening I'd grab a diet orange until I noticed it had more caffeine than the Coke.

Honey's just as much sugar as is corn syrup, it's not any healthier just because it was in a bee's mouth. And while I do prefer the taste of honey, I'd rather have corn syrup than Gunter's Buckwheat honey (bleah).

Agave syrup, if knowing that it could've been tequila doesn't make you cry.

The drinking of copious amounts of something with alcohol is nigh.

Very fucking nigh.

Crown Royal is caffeine-free.

Point of order: honey is a monosaccharide, while corn syrup (and regular sugar, and all the other fake sugars except saccharin) are polysaccharides. It makes a difference.

I stand corrected.

But I maintain that buckwheat makes nasty honey.

I stand partially uncorrected - honey and high-fructose corn syrup are both primarily fructose and glucose, ie, monosaccharides.

So that part of my initial post was correct. Honey is equivalent to HFCS on that level. In fact, HFCS is more similar to honey than is regular corn syrup.

But the bee's mouth does in fact dissolve di- and poly-saccharides from nectar and pollen into monosaccharides, so it does matter that it was in the bee's mouth.

And, while not stated directly, the implication that all sugars, including those not mentioned in the post are equivalent was incorrect.

Absolutely--buckwheat is nasty to begin with. Burning tires would make nasty honey too.
