As soon as Pete gets off the trainer she'll be continuing our annual music rebuild. The cd carousel(sp) holds 200 but we have syc numbers (better music though bro). Anyway new music to yammer about soon.

Are you saying that the music I like is inferior? You know, I'm off until Tuesday...don't make me drive up there and kick your ass.

I just heard a short piece on NPR that is going to force me to find the CD they were extoling. It seems someone has done a tribute album to the Moody Blues...by doing their music in bluegrass arrangements.

It sounded really, really good. Brilliantly good, in fact.

I heard that too. At least, I heard a snippet of it before jumping into the shower. It sounded pretty good.

Gonna have to check that out!

One sign of a great rock-n-roll album is the volume its at when you're done listening. Ben Harper Live From Mars turns out to be one loud mother pumpin album. Glory and Consequence, Excuse Me Mr., Sexual Healing, Steal My Kisses, and Burn One Down... are you getting the picture?

I was not aware that there is a recent documentary about the Moog and a soundtrack to it. I was listening to it today, and it was quite good.

Let's see...what else have I been listening to? Well, a lot...but among that lot:

Marvin Gaye--Here, My Dear: This is CD # 500 in my collection, incidentally.

Miles Davis--ESP

Beatallica--Beatallica and A Garage Dayz Nite

Queensryche--Promised Land

The last 5 CDs I played:

1. The Misfits - BLOOD-DRIVE - Live with Zoli (from Ignite)
An interesting bootleg if you can find it. Zoli took lead vocals only 4 days before this show. Impressive showing, I must say.

2. Charles Manson - LIE - The Love and Terror Cult
Charlie is so versatile, but he don't surf...

3. Tracy Lords - 1000 Fires
A technicality. My wife wanted to listen to it, and since she refuses to understand how to work a CD player...

4. White Zombie - PsychoHeadBlowOut / Soul Crusher / Make Them Die Slowly
A wonderful bootleg from a store in NYC. If you can find it, get it, even if you don't listen to it. The resale is worth it. After I bought it ($10), I found out that it goes for $30 - $50.

5. GG Allin 7-CD compilation from a European CD dealer
Amazing what you can do with a CD burner and CD-Rs. GG Allin and / The Murder Junkies / Texas Nazis / Scum Fucs / Shrinkwrap / The HolyMen /The Jabbers / and the rare 7" with The AIDS Brigade. I know this is stretching the idea of the thread, but I consider it a box set, so I apologize (waddle doodle, I am the Greaseman...)

A bit late, I know, but Lucinda Williams, Car Tires on Gravel Road. Awesome!

Brian Wilson - Smile : Orchestral vocal/pop for old hippies. Verging on elevator music in places, but with excellent new versions of "Villains and Heroes" and "Good Vibrations". Notable because Brian is, at last, sane enough to realize the creation he should have released 40 years ago.

ZZ Top - Best of: Juvenile, prurient, musico-porn-double-entendre. And that's just the best stuff about it. I loves me some "Rough Boy" and "LaGrange".

Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick: Eveyone else thinks Aqualung is Ian Anderson's greatest work. I think TAAB is.

My current selection of WMP radio stations: The energy dance radio is mostly Trance and is really good if you like that sort of thing. I understand UT really loves Trance

Undertoad should check out DI.fm's Trance channels if he hasn't already.

I've been listening to:
Juno Reactor - Labyrinth
Paradise Lost - Symbol of Life

This year is going to mark the release of five new CDs from Bill Leeb / Rhys Fulber. Awesome!

Pixies - Wave of Mutilation. It's a "Best of" disc. I listened to the Pixies when I was younger, but kind of forgot about the band as time went on. I was in Borders the other day looking for something, and couldn't find anything I wanted. Suddenly my toddler points at this disc and says "Dad, get that. It's yellow!". Kid's got good taste in music.
