Life's Soundtrack
Driving home from the East yesterday, I nerdily enjoyed that Madonna's "Borderline" was playing as we crossed over s state border. But that's not all!....... It was immediately followed by the BeeGes' "Staying Alive" as we passed a "Stay Alive" anti-texting sign

That was a sign. Two of them. Of what, I have no idea, but, it was a sign.

I used to do a drive from Springfield, MO to Gainesville, MO about once a week...usually in the dark. It's mostly 2 lanes and 85 miles. I used to call it the Death Ride to Gainesville, though I never had anything serious happen to me...the occasional deer trying to wander onto the highway. But any time I did the drive, I would play "Deathrider" by Anthrax at least once.

From Wiki:
Quote:
It's every man for himself at this junction. Looking in your mirror and signalling before making a lane change immediately singles you out as 'a stranger in these parts' and such weaknesses will be exploited mercilessly by the more frequent user. If you get stuck in the wrong lane, you could be destined to haunt the place for all eternity. You may have detected a certain lack of enthusiasm on my part for negotiating this junction.

I've seen this roundabout in Swindon a lot on the interweb:
Gives me the heebiejeebies just looking at it.

Aaargh! The Swindon 'Magic Roundabout'. Abandon hope all ye who enter here.
There's a similar junction at Hemel Hempstead which I'm more familiar with, that has also acquired the 'Magic Roundabout' title. From Wiki: Quote:
Incidentally, the 'Magic Roundabout' title was borrowed from a children's animated TV programme. It was a bit of a bizarre production to say the least.

I have to say, it is actually brilliant in its efficiency, once you understand the method behind it. But road designers have to take into account that most drivers aren't brilliant.

People in the suburb we just moved from could barely handle small roundabouts. I lived in DC...I know circles.
