May 5, 2008: Dog rescue in Thailand

Flickr user Astanhope put this set up on Flickr, and it has been getting attention from digg and others. It was actually taken by his mother-in law in Thailand, as two young kids rescue a dog trapped in an aqueduct.

Well done, lads... well done.

They were mistaken, he was enjoying the water, that's all.
I don't believe that dog couldn't climb up that embankment, with 4 paw drive and a low center of gravity. The dog only came to the kid being friendly, and was dragged up the bank.

Notice the last picture where he's looking back at the water?

Awww.

I'm gonna go to bed thinking they rescued the little dog, and everyone was happy.

(Ignoring the fact that when I wake up, there will be 5 posts with recipes for dog soup.)

I have to say....that was pretty weak. I think the dog would have been fine on its own.

What's on the road in the background of the 4th pic? It looks like a second mutant animal they pulled out of the black lagoon.

Horse.

But I love the idea that they are unwittingly pulling the doom of all mankind from polluted waters because it looked like a puppy... Very James Herbert.

In Vietnamese, "Thịt chó" means dog meat (Thịt = meat, chó = dog), and you see this sign on countless restaurants and shops around the country. In many regions, it is much more common to find dog meat than beef on the market.

The background mutant kind of looks like a horse in the 4th picture. A horse with a really long neck and no head.
But in the second picture, it looks more like the Road Warrier, walking toward the boys who are trying to steal his supper.
