Do you name your car?
Some people name their cars, like a boat (but they don't usually paint it on the car.) The car thread reminded me that my Honda's name was Chiquita (always wanted a vanity plate: CHKITA but never got it.)
We also used to have a Nissan Pathfinder, and it was named Chataqua. My current car is named pieceofshit. Do YOU name your cars? What are their names?

Yes, I do.
My Sable (in "Toreador Red" which is dealer-speak for "burgundy," since I won't actually own a truly red car, even passed up a significant price deal once because of this) is named Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen. The Talon which preceded the Sable was Sihayel. I have friends that do better names ... One female friend called her Escort Station Wagon "Finelda." Sycamore is the champ, though. He has a Chevy Malibu named "Barbie," the hunk o' crap he was driving before that was called "Monica" because it had blown a seal or gasket or something ... although he always pronounced it with a Spanish accent. IIRC, I did suggest the name on that one.

Yes. My blue Jeep is called "the blue Jeep" and my black one is known as "the black Jeep". Soon, when I only have the black one I'll likely change its name to "the Jeep" (after the blue one the preceded it).

I only named my very first car, a red 1966 Chevy Biscayne. Her name was "Boogie" (hey, it was 1972, give me a break). She even had a means of introducing herself. Emblazoned in labelmaker tape on the passenger side sun visor, so that you'd see it when you pulled it down, was the following:
"Hi! My name is Boogie, and I'm a magical car. Just make a wish, and I'll grant it. And if you don't believe me... F*ck You."

My first car was a Honda, so it was "the Honda". I acutally caught myself calling my current car (Ford Excort zx2) the Honda. LOL That is what I get for being so attached to the first one. Now it is just my car or the car.
I would have gotten another Honda if I could have afforded it. But I didn't trust the newspaper so I had to go to a dealership. My dad has gotten many cars from the newspaper and they always manage to be pieces of crap, so I wouldn't risk it.

I like the Ford Aspire: it aspires to be a better car!
I used to have an Escort, too. First manual transmission I had (which I really miss!)

My dad has an Impala. When he first got it, I named it Vlad.
I still insist on calling it that, much to his chagrin. My cars have never had names, but in high school all my friend's cars did: Artemis, Ratatouille, Ruby, Belle... |

In 1983, I had a '72 Plymouth Grand Fury. It looked like a cop car, and even had blue lights in the grill. My friends and I called it "the pig".

My 'vette doesn't have a proper name but I call her "The 78". She is a silver anniversary edition from 1978. Hubby's Jeep is called "Jeepers" and for some reason, I call our Ford Explorer "the Truck".
...I also have an outdoor feral cat named Pretty Green Eyes. How's that for originality? (or lack of imagination) hh

Wolf did indeed name my '94 Escort wagon...Mónica (Spanish pronunciation). And my '03 Malibu is Barbie. My fiancée's 2000 RAV4 is just known as the Lesbianmobile.
Other named cars include: --my old '78 Ford Fairmont: The Blue Bomb or The Blue Bomber --my old '88 Chevy Caprice: Lolita --my old '95 Geo Metro: Putt-putt --the '90 Accord that my brother uses for pizza deliveries: Louise |
