Maybe I did a bad thing?

I couldn't stand it any longer. I wrote that prof. who kicked me out of his class an email. It sorta went along the lines of, "Oh, blah blah blah...thank you for introducing me to WCW's poem about Icarus (based on this painting) and then I actually WROTE this: "You can bet that I see the water rushing toward me,"

now I feel sorta guilty but sorta not.
I sorta hope he chokes on it.

He once told me that the Beat poets were bad people (b/c of drug/alcohol abuse, multiple marriages and the like) and that Poe was "rather a scummy" person. I am recalling all of this to you only to remind myself of what an uptight blue meanie this guy really, truly is--despite his outer shell of chocolate goodness.

I know you guys think I'm a hopeless obsessive. Now look-you've made me cry.

If I beat you with barbed wire and then bathe you with alcohol, will you love me long time?

Oh no he di'int call Poe scummy. Let me at 'im! (I used to say if I had been alive in either Poe or Van Gogh's time I'd probably be one of their girlfriends.)

Hey, whatever else happened with that deal, anyway?

Hmmmm - Beat poets were bad people because of their behaviour.
Right, so we judge him on his behaviour.

He's a bad person, therefore you don't need to worry any more x

For prof 'tard hack:
Beat poets and Poe weren't known for being insensitive idiots either. This is the tale of artists vs. biographers. You can say all you want about personality defects of the authors of the classics. That does not make you an author of the classics, just a hack psychotherapist that can write and speak about real artists and true genius. It doesn't make you one.

Look Einstein's shoes were untied!! Ha-haaa! (idiot)

Anyhoo...The line you wrote him will not reach him. He obviously doesn't care if you drown. He should be choking on disciplinary action by the university or a board of his peers.

The truth about Poe is that he had little money and was caught trying to borrow money from his guardian (took the name and never was officially adopted)and was denied as an adult. People thought he was a schlep rock because he was a night owl, did not come from money of his own, was an orphan, and was given an education anyway. He did not get an inheritance and was constantly on the fringes of the elite crowd but was never accepted. The elite crowd at the time was born of money and engaged in the same activities as he, but he was less prestigious. In his lifetime he was published in a few journals but did not gain true fame until after his death. He had trouble with money and had no lineage to speak of....He was doing the same durgs as everyone else at the time but he was poor. Financially ruined. People say a lot about dark, financially ruined artists but that does not make those people any more talented, just jealous of someone they deem to be inferior in the class system.

Your elitist prof is doing the same to you, just there to judge your ruin as undignified, no matter how good you are in school, and especially if you are more gifted than he. Welcome to the class system. Karouac probably has more talent in his back molar rotting in the ground than your professor. And will probably be known to the world longer.Sorry.You are dealing with a high-brow embarrassing hack. I'm no better, but at least I know better than to be slanderous about individuals that could kick my ass is a brain-off. Dead or living.

Let's look at it like this...Your professor is inferior to certain individuals and may use tons of excuses and a series of arguements about certain folks because he knows he is mentally inferior. The fact that he cares so much, and hates his self that much, is the disappointment. You just happen to be in the line of fire, and then you get to watch the horrible show.

My personal opinion about your professor really doesn't matter.....But as long as we are obsessing on this lets go all out...

You feel rejected and humiliated, and admit it, it's because part of you knows what an intellectual hack you gave into, and now you are even more hurt by it. If this realization doesn't hit you now..believe me.......

Just an outsiders view here.....

You didn't do a bad thing at all. Stop accepting guilt for the blatant stupidity of this guy. This is not your fault.

I'm thinking that he didn't write you back because you wrote some passive aggressive line about water rushing.....rather then I think you should be fired....in fact I just talked with my lawyer about you, and said firing. Oh yea, and you owe me some back pay. Or is that pay back...one or the other, I don't care. Again, you will be talking with my lawyer. But then the water rushing thing was nice.

Hhmmmm. well I seem to be one of these idiots who like to delve into the biographies of certain artists to see what made them tick.
I believe it's the brilliance of an artist which gives into his personality rather than the personality giving into the art . It's what made Poe great.

What the heck is a puritanical professor teaching liturture anyway?

Okay, I gotta ask...WTF is it with you and professors? You know, I've checked, and idolatry is *not* considered to be a good thing, in general.

You can get so much more mileage out of common rabble than you can out of academic garbage.

If you'd just PM me your physical address, I would *so* drive to your town, regale you with English Lit prurience, and then willingly succumb to your advances once you'd been beset by my scruffy literate charms.

I'd even forge a diploma, if it would help.

Get over it. Please?

It's a Daddy thing. I have insight but I can't fix the problem. And it's true--I totally do idolize these creeps. I KNOW they are creeps in their soul but I am blindsided by their brilliance (I've a feeling they've all tiny penii, though, based upon body type) and I LOVE their way with words. I'm very aural.

Ok. I'm PM'ing you, but your wife won't like it.

I want nothing MORE than to get over it. I've even got a therapist and everything. I'm even reading Eckert Tolle!! I'm doing candle work and crystal work and retail therapy and...and...

My therapist says I need to quit thinking/acting like some stupid victim and tell myself a different story about myself and believe it (eventually).

In a "previous life" she was worshiped for her body, and now wants to be worshiped for her mind. That leaves those of us that do both, in a catch 22. Kind of a conundrum wrapped in a condom.
