Archie McPhee

Wolf got me interested in this on the Secret Santa thread. Archie McPhee is a 'novelty' company. A lot of the stuff is very similar to the whoopee cushions and x-ray glasses of the 1960's with a slightly updated spin.

Classicman and I have just split the cost of a JUMBO MYSTERY BOX. When it's delivered we will get together and divvy up the contents.

I'm holding out for bacon floss.

We get all our bandaids from there. Just finished up the ninja and pirate boxes a few weeks ago with my injured leg; this year's stockings will contain the sushi and crime-scene designs.

I haven't ordered from A.M. in a long time, but we still have a Sprong Pug...minus the sprong.

I bought the Crime Scene this year.

I want the bacon. "Warning, from a distance this looks like a bloody, open wound."

The box has arrived! It's pretty heavy. I can't open it until Classicman is here to divide the contents.

Classicman came over and we divvied up the box. From top to bottom, the box, Classicmans pile, and my pile. I recognized quite a few items from their clearance section.

There were a lot of erasers, patches, etc. Was it "over $250 worth of miraculous miscellany". Maybe if you count original prices. Was it worth $20 apiece ($25 if you count shipping). Yeah.

Of the big items, we both got:

A fleet of devil duckies, small, regular and jumbo. Classic got a monkey's head and I got an extra duck.
Parasite pal carry pouch and pencil holder.
Baby catapults
Uncut Asian Warrior playing card sheets (2 each)
Retro flamingo swizzle sticks.
Retro cocktail napkins. One was beatnik and the other was TV dinner.
1 Custom packing tape each (1 devil duck, 1 cowboy)
1 potato eraser set
Witch on a Moped cake decoration
Happy Squirrel Gum

Classicman got:
Parasite Pals Stationary with case
Cowboy mini bowling bag
Cowboy Texas Holdem travel set
1 eraser set (meat)
Hula girl plastic disk

I got:
Sushi placement and coasters
Cowboy Texas Holdem square card deck
Parasite pals lunch kit.
Black cat greeting cards
Parasite Pals tape measure
Hula cardboard decorations

No bacon floss!! I did envy Classicman's bowling bag. I liked my sushi place mats, though.

How's the quality of the sushi placemats, Rich? I was considering getting some awhile back, and then forgot about them. My big thing is I need vinyl that's easily wipeable and sturdy enough to withstand violent toddlers.

That is indeed impressive.

I figure I might buy another bag o' fun in 6 months or so, in hopes that they'll run out of the Parasite Pals collection. Not that I don't like them, but my objective is to avoid duplication, although you can never have too many devil duckies (you get one jumbo and one regular in the bag o' fun). My gum was Angry Scotsman.

So THAT's where the Pirate bandaid's come from. I've been buying them at a specialty store in Georgetown and paying a hefty premium to boot.

I won't be payin' too much n'more. Arrrrr.
