I'm To Fat.
I am considering getting bariatric surgery. Has any body here or any one you know had this kind of surgery before?
I looked at wikipedia and have talked to people that have had it. I have been hovering around 300 Lbs since 1990 and am tired of being FAT.

What other weightloss plans have you tried?
Yes, I know someone, it wasn't fun. Also, not sure 300lb is "fat enough".

When I was 425 I limited my diet and walked, pretty much the same as now but the weight is not coming off.

That was pre 1990? Can you try other, more energetic forms of exercise? Have you spoken to a Dr about it?

I ride my bike and have started water aerobics. I have to be careful with my joints.

The only one I knew about didn't fare so well either. She is still struggling with ill health.

I am to fat as a tree is to autumn leaves.
That would be a good visualization too.

How did you know I was considering taking the GRE?
Fargon, I know one person. She had psychological issues, because she had been big all her life. Health-wise I think she did pretty well. Oh wait, I heard about a HS teacher I had who did it, and she almost lost her life. Good luck, whatever you decide.

I know one person. My brother. He has had ill health ever since. It seems like it is basically starvation. Even after years he still cannot eat normally.
He wasn't too fat just broke both legs shattering his knee caps. He wanted to take the weight off so he could walk. He can walk with a cane, but it still in pain. |

Yeah, a gastric bypass increases your likelihood of becoming alcoholic - I think by 80%? I know several people who have had bariatric surgery and who are doing well.

I just mentioned this thread to Momdigr, and found out a cousin of mine had this done a few years ago. Apparently she went through/still has some pretty serious alcohol problems. Didn't work too well either.
