Republicans who are vying to lead the national party offered a mix of reactions yesterday to the decision by one candidate for the job to mail out a music CD including the song "Barack the Magic Negro."
Chip Saltsman defended his actions, telling the Hill newspaper that the song -- and others on the CD, which was mailed to party members -- was nothing more than a lighthearted parody. But his rivals in the contest to chair the Republican National Committee said it carried an inaccurate message about what the GOP stands for.

Nah, I think it got the message just right.

And former Ohio secretary of state Ken Blackwell defended Saltsman and attacked the media.
"Unfortunately, there is hypersensitivity in the press regarding matters of race. This is in large measure due to President-elect Obama being the first African American elected president," Blackwell, who is black, said in a statement.

Yeah, the media is really the problem here (sarcasm). If these guys parody themselves any more, then SNL, The Daily Show, and the Colbert Report are going to go out of business.

Does anyone remember SNL skewering Jessie Jackson with "Don't Let Me Down, Hymietown" when he got caught using the phrase? With these RNC nutjobs, they don't even have to make up the song.

It is astonishing that a mere 4 years ago, Democrats were considered the disorganized rabble and the RNC was the paragon of 'party discipline'.

Barack the Magic Negro is a Paul Shanklin parody song that's been played on Rush Limbaugh for the last two years. It's hilarious, and it's obvious satire. Stupid to distribute it on a CD.

No, because my point has nothing to do with whether or not the election was stolen, or what I think of that issue.

There was a perception that the election was stolen which prompted bumper stickers bitching about the election being stolen.

The anti-Obama bumper sticker to which I referred had nothing to do with any actual event, real or imagined. It was, in effect, pre-bitching about the possibility that the change promised in the election would affect that person's lifestyle in a way that person deems unacceptable.

That possible infringement has not even happened, yet. It may, or may not. Future vs. past.

Big difference.
