A good sized one for sure, but far away from us. We are high in the mountains of Baguio. There are many small quakes happening every few weeks or a month apart. Mostly in the 3-5 range. Most of the time it just moves the ground enough to put a little torsion on the roof joists and they squeel. The first few times it happened I thought cats were fighting on the roof and went out to chase them off. Then some of the neighbors walked by in the street and asked "did you feel that quake? Hey what are you doing up on the roof anyway"? And as for the floods that so often hit the Philippines, we're so high on the mountain here that it's not often a problem. It was in '09 but that was an exceptional situation. Three typhoons in 5 days. Most of the time we are struggling for the water that runs off the mountains. And there's not any of that religious war stuff going on here like there in on the southern islands. It's really quite nice and comfortable here. |
