I am in quarantine.
Trying not to spread the bug. I did go for a walk. I started a new book (reading I mean) I checked out autism sites on t'internet and made notes. And some other stuffski. But I read kitchen equipment catalogues like poor men read high performance car magazines. There is always some handy gadget I have never heard of and immediately crave. However I am aware that this is a time-filler and 99% of people would find it exceptionally boring. Hence its inclusion here. |

real quarantine. oh ugh. sorry I missed that. I just don't get the whole catalogue/magazine reading thing. But then I'm not a shopper. Which is weird seeing as I'm a hoarder.

Gotcha.
Nope, my quarantine is [was] pretty real - this vomiting bug is doing the rounds and I already live with two people considered vulnerable. I've been super careful about hand washing, separate towels, plates and cups etc, but mostly just staying away from them. My nephew also had to come round until midday because of a serious crash on the road to his school, no traffic could get through. He lucked out, because he hadn't finished his science homework, so he did it here. He had the bug over the weekend. Tiger went to the Drs today about his persistant cough and then threw up all over himself in the waiting room. So he's off until next week anyway. But that can only be a coincidence, as I was out of the classroom laminating when the kids came in on Monday and I didn't start puking until 09.45. Still, what's more boring than hearing about someone else's illness, so it fits the thread I'll tell you my dreas next... Oh, I already do. |

I know - I've only been careful after the onset.
But it was Half Term last week (a week off school) so I guess I didn't pick it up from any of the children. And my nephew almost definitely got it from my neice - neither of whom I've seen in two weeks (until today). You do what you can. I could have picked it up sitting next to someone on the bus. (I think - not sure how virulent it is - I just know I got it) |

People infected with the Norovirus can still be contagious for a week or more after the symptoms are gone and they feel perfectly fine.

Yebbut - how quickly do the symptoms show?
Whatever I had (I can't honestly claim it was Nonovirus, just that it sounds similar) came on fast. I left home Monday morning thinking I just had the lingering cough from my cold two weeks ago. One hour 45 minutes later I was on my knees in the staff toilets. If my source of contagion was school it would either have to germinate for over a week, or be something like The Stand. Not pooh-poohing anything, just asking a question. Enquiring minds and all that. Maybe it's just that Diz put his bum in my face during that night or something. ETA - from a being infectious POV, I feel awful enough missing THREE DAYS! of school. I can't wait to go back tomorrow. I swear I'm not Typhoid Mary. (I do wonder if they ate my cake though...) |

Consider wearing a mask at work for a few days, for the protection of others, if you might unexpectedly come close to them like children who haven't already been exposed running up to you. Adults are easier to keep at a distance so you can just maintain your other infection control measures at home and at work for them the rest of the week. |

They did eat my cake.
Mrs B said she did wonder why I was leaving school mid-morning looking so awful, but put it out of her mind when she smelled the chocolate. |
