We seem to get recurring spam-like new user registrations for an essay writing service. The service's website URL is listed as the user's homepage in their profile. Does banning the IP address for the website stop reregistration under another user name; or, do they register here from IP addresses not affiliated with their website?

Yes Im getting that also on a site I am a co-admin on..... They keep posting it and its a pain in the ass!!

I note that the currently active users stats tend to show 275, or thereabouts, guest users.

Is there any way of determining if they are bona fide guests or automated systems with the ultimate intention of generating new spam members.

There never seems to be a shortage of those, does there?
