Yeah, Heinlein was pretty kinky. Didn't he write a story about a lecherous old man who ends up in a beautiful young woman's body? The son I can sort of understand on the grounds of ignorance and general adolescent lust. But the Mom? No way! OK, so she was abused. She should have been in therapy or something. Why repeat an awful history with you own child, no less?

I've turned it around and tried to imagine it with my Dad, and the thought makes me want to puke. I really loved my Dad, but not like THAT! Nope! Not even for $5 million and a full body condom. Noooooo.... Thank you very much.

To re-intellectualize the situation:
-Sex with Mom is no biggie
-Offspring with Mom is a serious biggie
-Church (the first large ingroup structure, religious preferrence irrelevant) says, "Ok, no more two headed children with gills and the same father/brother." follows that statement up with, "Ok, if you do, you're immortal soul (or other appropriate irreplaceable spiritual component) is damned/cursed/etc."

That should just about cover the valid reason for not doing it as well as the root of the ick factor.

Did I leave anything out?
