Saturday Suggestions

Mrs. Dallas having decamped to the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival, and my parents having arrived to help out with the kidlets since this is possibly my most stressful week of work ever (time to move into the new building and find out what doesn't work), I have an interesting choice here: what to do on Saturday night. Because it's just me--no need to account for anybody else's schedule or interests.

So. What suggestions do you have? (Serious ones welcome, though I'm sure smart-assed ones are inevitable.)

Minor League Baseball!

We saw Binghamton thrashed by Akron last night. We may go again tonight as Steve Traxel is doing a rehab start for the M E T S Mets Mets Mets. Our new centerfielder, Lastings Milledge, is the bomb.

A simulated bachelor night? Hmm, that's a toughie.

Since I know you to be a person of class, taste and a certain amount of conservatism in your day to day life...I think you need to do something that involves lots of alcohol, tits and embarassing digital photographs.

For penance later on, you'll have to post the pics here.

Are any exotic dancers scheduled to perform near you? That's always fun...

Go see a movie that is enjoyed by people over four feet tall.

I'm considering going to see "Wedding Crashers." Two of my cow-orkers, whom I judge to have very different tastes, both raved about it, so it's probably not bad.

No digital photos, she took the camera to England.

You don't supply the camera...the pimp does.

I ended up going here. (You can thank me for linking you past the obnoxious flash intro on their home page.) It was an accidental find in the weekend listings of the Inquirer. They've been open just less than 2 months. I enjoyed it quite a bit. The crowd was small (probably 50 or so) but mostly enthusiastic. (Let's just say there's a reason the MC is the MC.) I was waiting for one of the comics to bust on me for being literally the only person there alone, but it didn't happen. I guess the stage lights were too bright and they didn't notice.

EDIT: I am now in danger of being permanently blind after coming home to the sight of my father watching Mulholland Drive. "It's kind of weird," he said.

You really have to remember to set up the parental lock before leaving the grandparents alone with the TV set ...

Hey wow, I was thinking about suggesting that place to J last night! First real comedy club in Philly in a long time. But we probably would have done the late show. I will definitely hit it up sometime.

Comedy club with "Snickers® Pie" on the menu. How can you go wrong.

Your father is a master of understatement. That movie's not weird...it is utterly impenetrable, psychotic and depraved. I'm surprised you didn't come home to find him clawing *his* eyes out.
