Hope you had the time of you life
A few years ago, I was watching the movie "When Harry Met Sally" with my wife. After the movie ended I literally burst into tears. Not because it was a soft and fuzzy movie, but because I hadn't seen the movie for many, many years before and watching reminded me of all the things that were going on during that time I last saw the movie. Good times. More notably though, it reminded me of things that weren't. A time before terrorism was a common household word, before the real threat of killer flus, carjackings, fuel prices beyound our wildest dreams, and almost anything else that utimately stole our innocents. It made me sad that for me, those days are over. Not that I lament for those days, I really enjoy where I am now, husband, dad, it just reminded me of really good days. This afternoon, a Cars song "It's Magic" threw me into the same mind set (sans the tears) so....
Looking back on our many years before us, what was a period that you would consider the 'time of your life?' When was it, what was going on, what were the circumstances? What would be a time that, if you were given a choice, you could go back and visit again. Now some of you might be inclinded to give the 'when I was married' or 'the birth of my kids' answer, and that's ok. Just realize that those times are a given. For me, it was between 1988-1990. I had just moved to San Diego. I was single and I had a pack of ready-made friends thanks to a good friend of mine who had moved out there a year prior. I had somewhere cool to go every Friday, I was at the beach every weekend day, at the bars every weekend night. I was at the top of my game artistically, athletically, and personally.

83-86 , i was in the USMC stationed in So-Cal , half way in between San deago and LA , TJ was just a short train and trolly ride away , Malabu was just up the coast , the mountins and desert were with in a few hours drive , I was lean and mean , in FULL fighting trim , I could hump a 100+lb pack over hill and dale for 30 miles + in less than 8 hrs , and the BABES they were A-Plenty !!!!!
I wouldn't change much since then , but there was NO WAY I could have been married at that time in my life , saterday morning Porn marathons , sunday morning breakfast at this little dinner in San Clemente , or week end long road trips to where ever , and I only ended up in jail once ( DON'T I repete DON'T EVER find your self in the Tiwana 8th street jail !!!!! It is an experence that you will NEVER forget !!!!!!!)

If we're talking purely selfish, sybaritic pursuits, then 1974-75. Sex, drugs, rock and roll, more sex and more drugs. I was stone broke and still managed to go to every concert I wanted to see, nail babes right and left, work and sleep as little as I wished and still do just fine. I suspect youth had something to do with it.
As I have aged, I've gotten a changed perspective, and in terms of security and stability, right now is probably that time. Sometimes I wish for 1975 again, though... ![]()

It's got to be the house building kid raising years. I really feel connected to something real when I do the tool using ape thing. If you're new you may want to look at my homepage if you're not I'm sorry for hitting you over the head with it yet again, but it is the best expression of me I have made yet.
