I didn't say shit about your bank account (???) nor do I have any idea what you mean.

Why do "we" need to be "schooled" on using a message board?
i have been a little too busy to mess around with this whole AG invasion pissing match, but this quote from Flint sticks out a bit. i think there is a very basic misunderstanding here. Flint (along with some others) has lost a place to go and post in the way that he is used to posting. he (or she - i haven't paid much attention) stumbled into the cellar and saw all the meaningless BS we talk about here and assumed that the cellar might be a good fit for his posting style/desires.

Here is the real rub - we cellarites, in general, don't see the cellar as a message board. It is a community. Many of the people know each other IRL. although folks from all walks of life are welcomed (car guys, computer geeks, trannies, blue collar, white collar, addicts, and egomaniacs abound) we generally have something in common - a desire to hold somewhat intelligent conversations with a group of people that combined have a tremendous amount of knowledge. as is true of all groups of friends - we spend a lot of time talking about stupid pointless crap that makes us smile or laugh. but we laugh at many things because we "know" the person sharing the message.

if i just wanted random snippets of meaningless drivel in bitesize morsels i'd go to the local sportsbar and listen to the banter. i'd prefer not to see thread after thread started for no apparent reason. it makes it harder to find the gems when i am sifting through the BS (like this thread).

just my take on things. Flint - if you want to be a part of the cellar then Welcome. pull up a chair and join in - please just don't shit on the carpets. Tony just got them cleaned.

just a thought...
If I "stumbled" into a group of people, after a few times of seeming to not fit in, I think I would politely carry my quest elsewhere as opposed to continually trying to redirect the group to my preference.
that's me though....what the hell do I know.

Yes, it must be frustrating to have people repeatedly assume that you're an idiot teenager. I wonder what you could do to keep that from happening?

well for starters im putting $50 on mari to win this one. and lookout stepped in with exactly what needed to be said.

maybe they'll get the hint that somethings wrong by by how all their threads turn into a debate about why they are here.

What is Mari going to win? She and a lot of other people are hair triggered because of the rough start the new members have had. OK, but I've seen effort on their part to adjust. Lets give them the benefit of the doubt and simmer down a little.

Mari thinks Flint read her banking thread and is mocking her. Flint says (I think), he just saw the title and thought up this thread.
Well, nobody can prove either, so again, what's she going to win?

Flint made a clone thread. It is a humorous attempt to take someone else's thread title, and change it a little bit, but turn it into something funny. Even if it just makes you look twice. Maybe you laugh maybe you don't.

Clone threads are NEVER meant as a way to make fun of the original thread, or it's content.

So, you may not think it's funny, but you should not be offended if it happens to be a clone of your thread title.

Oh, and to Kagen... I do think Flint and I like to debate on message boards. Something fun about hammering away back and forth striving for clarity.

Discussions are fun, jokes are fun, debates are fun, and even message board arguments can be fun. Because it's all just words on a screen. No one post can really affect you more or less than another, if you don't want it to.

@ Lookout: You got something against sports bar banter??

Hey, this could be fun (editted that from 'is fun') - why?, well I am sure there are plenty more contradictions that might look good alongside each other - maybe we should have a Cellarite thread just for that purpose - it could give meaningless drivel a modicum of value....

I backed off and tried to make peace with you for Labrat's sake, but you weren't interested. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I learned my lesson. Labrat can love you folks all she wants, I won't.
AG didn't suck, it was a great addicting site. Now that it's shut down there are at least 3 clone sites where AG'ers are flocking. I came here and like this place too. Lucky you!

And why call AG'ers idiots, mari? AG wasn't a message board of mindless nimrods posting nonsense and constantly bickering. It really is just like this place. A community. We know all about each other, posted about our lives there, laughed, and even cried together there (some of us). We're just regular people.

So, some new people come over to "your" site, and don't post the way you like. Why even think about it? It's a public message board. Anyone can join. And honestly, what's been so bad? I think though we've posted a lot, we've been fun, funny, communicative and occasionally interesting. A lot of people "got" the jokes, but I don't think you did. Sorry. But, it's not like we scratched all our posts on the hood of your car. It's a message board. Threads not deemed worthy don't have to be read.

I can't say I know one person on this board well enough to call them an "idiot" or an "asshole" (as seen in another thread today). Why get so upset? Chill and realize, we didn't come here shitting on your boards, we were happy to find a cool place, and jumped in. (And yes you could go cut and paste something I posted that looks like an insult to your message board, or whatever... but here I am now telling you... they were JOKES, and SARCASM, and playful. Never compiled with curses or direct insults, or outright rudeness.)

I've never held a "grudge" on a message board. And, there doesn't have to be a big lovefest here either. No reason to run so hot and cold. Make threads, comment on others you like, don't rush to judge other people. This whole thing us vs. them thing is silly. "We're here, we're dwellars, and you better get used to it."

I have nothing but respect for your evenhandedness, Bruce. I try to be the same, but something nags at me in this case. It all feels a bit Jekyll and Hyde. If there weren't always an underlying sense of aggression, I think I could follow the line you are taking. Had a 'sorry, geuinely didn't mean any offence' line followed earlier on... well, that would have been a start, but cannot see that kind of reply happening - maybe I'll be proved wrong, which would be nice...

I think YOUR threads are BS!

(see... if I don't add a note that the above is just a joke, some of you may think I'm instigating here. actually what I'm doing is a little third grade humor: "You're a jerk?" "Oh yeah? Well I think you're a jerk!" "No, you are!" "No, you!" If he can say this thread is BS, than I can say his threads are BS... and of course not even mean it. Which makes the whole thing funny... to me. Although now I've ruined it by explaining.)

I was going to say the same thing about Bruce. Probably the most sensible post in this thread.

Bruce is good people. He's always been our peace maker. I've said all I have to say on this subject, and I'm not going to keep repeating myself.
