I had originally thought of moving to Sydney, mainly because it seemed to be the city that offered the broadest spectrum. From there, I figured visiting other cities would help me to decide where I'd want to eventually live.
I haven't decided on permanently settling there, but I would like to visit for more than 6 months. Since I will be there that long, I would need a job, and that's where the problems come up. I had thought of moving as a
Skilled Migrant, but then I started hearing about how the economy is doing, and that I might have a hard time, even with an IT background. That's when I checkout monster.com, and found almost nothing. I guess I could always be a bartender (Aussies drink, right?). I doubt I'd get sponsorship working in a bar, though.
I do have a cat, and I read from the
AFFA that it might only be 30 day quarantine.
I've read from misc.immigration.australia+nz that the process is expidited when one is fully prepared. I just don't think I want to spend the money (700+ for applying, 1000+ for animals, 800+ airline, plus moving expenses). Then there are the fees if I decide to go with an immigration service. It just seems like a bunch of cash to spend just to live somewhere for a few years.
Any other ideas? Do you know anyone that has done this? Thanks for (finally

) replying.
