The blue/white one probably has a 302, as it lists it on the car. Of course, the owner may have swapped out engines by now.
In the third pic, behind the white one, you see part of a early 70s Ford Mustang...I don't know if those were ever exported to Australia. I think they look similar to the Falcon, but Wikipedia compares the Falcon to the Ford Torino...I definitely see the similarities there. Starting in 1971, US cars started losing a lot of their power due to detuned engines (to handle unleaded gas) and emissions controls. Did Australia go through anything similar? We've had one Holden come to the States recently...the Monaro was sold as the Pontiac GTO. It's a nice car, but shouldn't have been sold as a GTO given the GTO's history. The new Pontiac G8 is based on the same platform as the Commodore, and is being built in Australia to be shipped here. The Chevy Camaro and Impala will also be on the platform, but are going to be built in Canada. |
