If you don't like the ending you could choose a different one by Mario Puzo, John Grisham, George Lucas, Joe Haldeman, Dean Koontz, Joss Whedon, Tom Clancy, or David Chase.

At first I thought the Epilogue was closing the door to the possibility of any sequels, but on further thought, it really doesn't.

I enjoyed it (our copy of the UK version arrived on Thursday), but I thought the epilogue was lame.

There are many, most are minor. When I read the Brit versions, they are comfort food for the brain. The American verisons jar and don't feel right. But the changes are hard to spot, and I found a site that told me why. Unfortunatlely i can't find it now and i didn't bookmark it, but....

It listed over 160 changes in the first book! (yes, every difference was documented).....

If the Americans are likely to understand a word and it's context, then it won't be changed. otherwise it will. eg pavement becomes sidewalk, but road does not become street and car park does not become parking lot. Fair enough, I'm used to this.

But... if there is a concept which does not translate, the entire sentence or even paragraph is dumped. Surrounding areas are adjusted 1984 style.

So you only know what you are missing if you read both. And probably being British helps too.
