My little brother saw my now sis-in-law in elementary school, and went home and told my mom about the "little red-haired girl" in his class. Turns out they were both athletic, friendly, gorgeous, and funny...and have been married over 10 years and have 3 little girls. They stayed together when she went away to college, and he went to another one. I'm sure it's not always perfect but they're pretty awesome together! He made her laugh when he came to school and told her he had learned to speak "Irish" (she has a very Irish name and red hair and green eyes.) When she asked for a demonstration he said in a very clear Irish accent "potato." He had her at potato, because she laughed her head off. They're wonderful folks, with amazing children.

I wasn't allowed to date in high school, and my college sweetheart ended up marrying his high school sweetheart. For a long time I wished that I had someone that knew me since high school or college, and wanted one of those relationships. But my husband and I met in the oddest of places, and it doesn't matter that we didn't know each other 20 years ago - he's still my best friend. He probably wouldn't have given me a second look 20 years ago, and I would have shied away from the popular boy surrounded by all the popular girls. Sometimes it would be nice if there were no skeletons... but we love each other, and just kick the skeletons back in the closet where they belong.

J and C were in my kindergarten class. All of us boys had crushes on C pretty much... well always. They "liked" each other all the way through school. She was a good girl and dated nice boys or not at all for a short time when he discovered the alure of the fabled mattressback cheerleader. They were a couple again by the end of high school. He went in the marines and she waited. He got out and they got married within a matter of weeks. That was 14 years and 3 kids ago. Their house is on the street that is exactly halfway between his parent's house and her parent's house in the small town we grew up in.
Pretty cool to think that they're 34 and have been after eachother in one way or another for 29 years.
