Let me see if I have this straight...
This was in my inbox today, thought I'd pass it on. My inital response is "Of course Palin is more qualified than Barack to be pres. Since we are governed by corporations we certainly wouldn't want an uppity puppet, we need someone who looks good, doens't make us feel inferior, and can take orders without question.
Three Cheers for President Palin! Let me see if I have this straight... If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're "exotic, different." However, grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, you¹re a quintessential American story. If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic ³Muslim² (who, by the way, is a Christian). However, name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a ³maverick². Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable. However, attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you¹re well grounded. If you spend 3 years as a community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law Professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs Committees, you don¹t have any real leadership experience. However, if your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the Governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you¹re qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive and next in line behind a man in his eighth decade of life. If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian. However, if you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and then left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a true Christian. If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society. However, if, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible. If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's. However, if your husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA , your family is extremely admirable. OK, much clearer now.

At the same time, they were selecting one of their own. Sarah Palin who did not know what the Bush Doctrine is but advocates unilateral military attacks on any nation we feel may be a threat. That is the same intelligence and response that George Jr advocated. McCain - once a critic of George Jr - now has a campaign being run by those same George Jr people - including Karl Rove. It's called change to advocate the Bush Doctrine? The only thing changed is McCain. Palin is only saying what the McCain staff has always been saying when they worked for George Jr. These same spin liars said Obama is teaching sex education to kindergarteners. Change is not to vote for George Jr's people and their newest mental midget - Sarah Palin. I could not believe how dumb she is. Just like George Jr, she is a great front man - a spokesperson. Like George Jr, she has no knowledge, edcation, or an ability to think for herself. She is the perfect choice for people who lied about sex education for kindergarteners. |

the voting system in this country is seriously flawed. the electoral college way of doing things is just not working. it shouldn't matter what state you live in. case in point: several low population, southern and bible belt states are going to vote for mccain just because obama is black and his name sounds muslim but the non rascist people who are going to vote for obama that live in these states will have there votes ignored.. I live in New Jersey which has a population of approximately 8.5 million people and we're worth 15 electoral votes. Louisiana has a population of 4.2 million and is worth 9 electoral votes and Arkansas has 2.8 million people and has 6 electoral votes. SO... Louisiana and Arkansas combined have the same votes as New Jersey with 15, but Louisiana and Arkansas' combined population is 7 million people. Which means 1.5 million people in New Jersey can basically go fuck themselves.
On a side rant, if obama was a white man named Bruce Westinghouse there wouldn't even be a debate, the choice for every american would be clear.

Is it too late for him to change his name or would that be seen as "flip flopping?"

Scene: McCain HQ, six weeks ago. Major McCain operatives R and S are discussing possible VP choices.
R: Okay, now on to this Palin character. She looks pretty weak... 44, very little experience... S: Yeah, they'll attack her experience relentlessly. That seems obvious. R: The back room has been mocking her since L put her name forward. He won't live that one down. S: Huh. Well, what if she was the nominee? R: I -- I guess the room would be a little ticked off. S: Would they? R: Well no, obviously they'd support her publicly. S: OK, but what about CBS News? The Times? R: They'd totally savage her. The 17-year-old pregnancy -- S: An Alaskan woman, a Conservative who wanted to read news. R: She's practically designed to get under their skin. I mean, not only does she have all these built-in weaknesses, she's pro-life and a hunter. They won't be able to stand it. S stares at him. They pause. S: So is that a good thing... or a bad thing? R: To be the enemy of the Times? I guess that's bad... S: Every successful R candidate has been an enemy of the Times. I really mean the rest of 'em. The Kos kiddies, the bloggers, the Bush Derangement Syndrome sufferers. The usual suspects. They were desperate enemies of Lieberman. And the result there? R: Lieberman wins as an Independent, Ds lose a Senate seat, win-win for us. S: Exactly. Are we in a so-dumb-it's-incredibly-smart situation like that? R: Lieberman wasn't dumb, he was just a pawn in that game. The netroots smelled blood in the water and they had to act. S: But they weren't smart about that blood. They were just animals, and in the end they turned them against themselves, like sharks without any prey left in the water. Dumb for them, smart for us. If we could engineer that, we'd be geniuses. R stares at him. They pause. R: Well there's no Independent rescue boat in this case. We pick Palin, she has to stay in the water and keep getting bit. S: Victory us. R: How could it be? S: How could it not be? Look, in the Primaries, Obama won because one, he identified how he can be the candidate that represents change. Two, because he was relentlessly optimistic, with an enormously optimistic message. And he realized it from the beginning, and planned around that. R: We know that. S: Right. So what happens when his entire base goes negative, because they can't help themselves? R: Obama gets painted as a negative candidate. People take him as less principle, more political. More of the same-old. S: Exactly. R: Ruins his entire basis as a candidate. S: The longer they wail, the more the people become cynical. The more it's a bitter 50-50 fight. The less it's about issues, which is what Democrats win on. The more about who you trust, which is what Republicans win on. The more it's Obama rhetoric versus righty rhetoric. The more it's Obama rhetoric, versus Obama inspiring. R stares at him. They pause. R: But from a very basic governance standpoint, how can we nominate a person with less experience than Obama? S: It's perfect. Do you realize what you just did? R: Asked a question about how the US of A should be governed? S: No. This is politics, governance has nothing to do with it. Do you realize you've been comparing Palin to Obama? R: Sure. Isn't everybody going to ask the same question? S: Absolutely. So dumb, it's smart. R: But doesn't Obama have more experience than Palin? S: Yup, by one year, by my reckoning. It's a disaster for Palin. And if it is, it's a minor disaster for Obama. You're confused. Picture this. The New York Yankees, in the middle of a pennant race against the Red Sox, play an exhibition game against a girl's software team in Manhattan. And they win: final score, 5 to 4. R: Oh, I gotcha now! Their number one position beats up our number two position. Even if they win, they lose. Either they demolish the women's team, which is expected, but then they look like pricks for beating up on the women. Or they only beat the women's team by a point... which makes the women's team look great and the Yankees look bad. S: They can only hurt themselves. The race is not Obama-Palin. It's Obama-McCain. R: Obama went and beat up a defenseless little girl. S: Exactly. Well, not a defenseless one, she hunts. R: Is there any way that Obama can remain positive and still battle her? S: He can try, but his followers, the kool-aid drinkers, they will drag him down. |

Its a good thing you are quoting a comedian in your signature. Otherwise people might mistakenly have taken you seriously.
