It varies state by state, but in general, it's assumed to be a health risk. You can't even spread cremated ashes in most places (but the reality is that the people in charge on a local level usually look the other way.)

Bout to put dress on and teeth in and head off into the night.
Thanks for your indulgence - I haven't dressed up for Halloween since before I got my first period - I have been very excited about this.

So, re stingray and Irwin.... Thor got the idea because he decided he was all into stingrays now and had an undersea birthday party (two weeks ago)..... where we always have a pin the tail on the donkey type thing. It really hurt me not to do "pin the stingray on the Irwin".......

other costumes etc in a few minute.

thanks for all the comments -the stingray was amazingly well received at school and in the neighborhood tonight. and it was so easy to make! ....and didn't fall apart.....

Here are the glattsters. "Man walking on hands" on the left and pirate on the right. Both are home made, and the pirate is wearing pants and a vest from a 55 year old Uncle Sam costume my grandmother made for my mom.

I have pics of the yard too.... but they may take a while.....

120ish TorT ers -was disappointed, frankly -it was warm, dry and a Friday night, I was sure we'd be nearer 200 .... i blame the governments. Why in the hell are we still in summer time? TorT time is traditionally 6-8, it doesn't go dark until after 7 now! further more, apparently Ann Arbor issued a Civil whatjamacallit that people may not TorT after 8pm. WTF? I thought you people were all about less interference from the Govt? they wouldn't even do this in Socialist UK, where there is not the understanding that if your porch light is on you wlecome Tort and if off ,not. Which works perfectly well. Why in the hell do we need a curfew? Detroit is a long way down the I94.....
